DESCRIPTION

This course is intended as an introductory course to provide participants with the basic information essential to a career in arboriculture. Students who attend class, read the assigned materials, and work with the instructor, generally can expect to do well on the Connecticut Arborist Exam. It is designed for students who wish to dive deeply into the material and have a more guided approach to the exam. Individual results are not guaranteed. This program is taught in English.

 

Classes will generally be held on-site at the Bartlett Arboretum on Wednesday evenings.

*Pruning Class/Workshop: will be held on-site Saturday (Date TBD)

REQUIRED COURSE TEXTS

Course books must be picked up at Bartlett Arboretum and will be available the first day of class. Contact the Education Department at edu@bartlettarboretum.org to schedule an appointment if you'd like to pick them up earlier.

 

  • UCONN IPM Manual (included in program cost)
  • Core Certification Training Manual for Pesticide Applicators and Technicians (2021 Ed) (included in program cost)

 

OPTIONAL COURSE TEXTS

  • A Field Guide to Eastern Trees, George Petrides. Peterson Field Guide Series. (Available from most bookstores and also on Amazon. Any similar field guide is acceptable as a substitute.)
  • Pirone’s Tree Maintenance, Hartman, Pirone and Sall, 7th edition, Oxford Press 2000. (Available from most bookstores – may need to be special ordered. You can also buy it on Amazon.)
