BOTANICAL DRAWING FOR BEGINNERS

Online Workshop

Saturday, 2/18/2022 - 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

DESCRIPTION

This workshop is designed for students with no drawing experience or for those who wish to refresh their skills.  Draw for the fun of it or as a preliminary step to later work in color.

Learn careful observational skills to translate what you see into simple lines and shapes as well as basic botanical drawing techniques to make a realistic drawing of a simple fruit.  See how to turn a cone and a sphere shape into a Bartlett pear.

Students will need a 9” x 12” pad of drawing paper (Strathmore 400 regular surface); an HB and 2B pencil (Faber-Castell 9000); a white plastic eraser (Staedtler Mars); and a fresh Bartlett pear.

NB: Items in (parentheses) are suggested brands available at Jerry’s Artarama, Norwalk; Thompson’s Art Supply, White Plains; some Michael’s; some Staples; and Dick Blick www.dickblick.com.

A Zoom link will be provided one day prior to the class.
