Thursday March 11

10:00 AM  –  1:00 PM

Program led by: Kathie Miranda

This program runs on Thursday mornings for 6 weeks.

Class Dates: March 11th, 18th, 25th, April 1st, 8th, 15th

Class Time: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Colored pencil is a versatile drawing medium:  the materials are simple and the work is immediate, making it an excellent choice for capturing the beauty of botanicals.  It is easy to produce vibrant, finely detailed portrayals of flowers, plants, mushrooms, fruits and vegetables.

Learn techniques that are fundamental to colored pencil application such as working in layers to achieve rich, dense hues; using a tonal foundation before adding color; and burnishing to mimic the look of a painting.

Class will be held on Zoom for the entire term. If you have never used Zoom before, provided below is a link to set it up on your computer and/or device: https://zoom.us/download

The structure of our Zoom class meeting will be similar to our live, 3-hour classroom experience: two or three demonstrations will be presented followed by time to work on your project “together in class”. The last 30 minutes of class will be devoted to a critique and Q&A session. A private photo-sharing group will be created on the Cluster app where we can download and view our completed projects. Cluster details will be available in the first class.

Completion of Introduction to Botanical Illustration or similar drawing experience is recommended by not required.
