INTRODUCTION TO THE AMERICAN CHESTNUT

DESCRIPTION

Discover the fascinating history of the American Chestnut. SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry school will present the historical and ecological importance of the American chestnut and their efforts to restore it. 

COST

Members $10 per person; Non-Members $25 per person

CANCELLATION POLICY

In the event the Arboretum cancels a program or event, a full refund will be issued. If the program or event occurs as scheduled, individual refunds may be issued up to 5 days prior to the program or event start date.

NOTES

SUNY ESF is spearheading an effort to restore the American Chestnut. The Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens will collaborate in this effort through plantings of wild and transgenic Chestnuts trees on-site.  Planting of wild chestnuts began in Fall 2022 and will continue into Spring 2023.  Transgenic chestnuts will follow in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.  Further educational offerings will be offered in conjunction with plantings and growth cycles of the Chestnut trees.
