Whether you're interested in learning Bonsai for the first time or returning to an old practice, this workshop is for you!

Bonsai, Japanese for “tree in a small pot,” combines technical horticultural practice with fine art principles. This ancient art form has many benefits, including:

  • Cultivate Patience: Bonsai are slow-growing plants that require a daily commitment to achieve long-term goals.

  • Develop Mindfulness: Like yoga or meditation, Bonsai requires one to sit quietly and work through obstacles, discomfort, and distraction.

  • Spark Creativity & Build Confidence: Like all creative practices, Bonsai encourages you to connect with your creative side. Utilizing proper techniques, you can encourage your bonsai to grow almost any way you want!

This hands-on workshop will introduce attendees to the principles and history of Bonsai. Participants will leave with the confidence and knowledge to begin a bonsai practice. Trees and wires will be provided and available for purchase. Limited capacity.

Instructors: The Yama Ki Bonsai Society is one of the oldest non-profits dedicated to spreading knowledge of, and love for, the art of Bonsai in the New York City area. The Society is currently accepting new members of all levels.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Members only: $10
